Women’s Issues Therapy

Mental Health in Women’s Issues

Being a woman can have its challenges as you are expected to meet societal and/or cultural expectations to be a mother, a career woman, a wife, and among other roles. These are the topics that are frequently covered in therapy:

•Motherhood expectations

•Career crisis

•Relationship issues

Motherhood: Maybe, you don’t want to be a mother, but you battle with this thought because of outside expectations. You are told that being a mother is wonderful, but you are not sure if you want to be a mother. You may even feel guilty and shameful that you do not want to be a mother. Or maybe you want to be a stay-at-home mother, but you are expected to have a career. Or if you are a mother, you begin to experience worrying about everything.

Relationship: Your relationship might be struggling and might want to end the marriage, but you are expected to stay in it. With all these expectations, you find yourself feeling depressed and maybe even experiencing an identity crisis.  You might be struggling to connect with your partner, to feel respected, or even appreciated. Relationships take hard work and sometimes we need to work on ourselves before we start couple’s therapy.

Career: Having a career can be rewarding but when the feeling of imposter syndrome creeps in, you do not know what to do to feel confident in your role. When you feel out of balance because you are spending long hours at the office when you want to be spending that time with your family. Or you may be struggling in your relationship which might result in feeling disconnected, anxious, or depressed.

I tailor the session depending on your unique need. I start by understanding the challenges you are experiencing in life such as work, family, children, and friends. I help you by empowering you to overcome these challenges and find a new way to handle these situations and develop the life you want. You will learn new skills to support you in improving communication, self-empowerment, self-compassion, and being your own best friend. Your therapy session will be a place where you will be able to voice your opinions, feelings, learn to set healthy boundaries with others and yourself and build strong self-esteem.

I have 6+ years of experience with many women battling societal gender expectations, relationship issues, identity crises, and motherhood.
